ABOUT RACEP

Ramat Community Empowerment Program is a Community Based Organization. (RACEP CBO) which is dedicated to transforming the lives of pastoralist communities in Samburu County, in Kenya. The community faces multiple layers of Social, Economic and Cultural Challenges. RACEP’s mission is to address the specific barriers faced by Girls, Women and People with Disabilities which includes limited education, healthcare, Economic opportunities and social inclusion. Girls from Samburu County are often Vulnerable to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Early marriages and school dropout, while women struggle with Economic marginalized and limited leadership and People with disabilities face significant discrimination and exclusion without any vocational training or independent group living through Education, Economic and Disability Support.

To empower and uplift women, girls, children, and people with disabilities in Samburu County through advocacy, education, and sustainable economic support. We are committed to creating safe and inclusive environments, promoting equal opportunities, and addressing social and economic challenges to foster resilient, thriving communities free from harmful practices and discrimination.

Justine Leisiano, a passionate advocate for the rights of children, girls, and women, hails from the Samburu community in the semi-arid regions of Kenya. The Samburu people have a rich, vibrant culture, yet face challenges such as insecurity, harsh living conditions, and harmful practices that disproportionately affect girls and women. Justine’s own life was transformed when she was rescued at the age of five by a Consolata missionary and given the opportunity to attend school.
